Parenting tip flyer titled “Is Saying ‘No’ to a Child Effective?” from The Church of United Brethren in Christ Social Service — explains why simply saying no is often ineffective, and suggests explaining reasons, offering alternatives, and staying calm instead.

Parenting tip flyer titled “Handling Children's Emotions – Parenting Tips” from The Church of United Brethren in Christ Social Service, listing six do's: calm yourself first, learn to recognise emotions, take care of yourself, practise calming emotions together with your child, remember every emotion has a purpose, and focus on the parent-child relationship.

Parenting tip flyer titled “Effective Appreciations” from The Church of United Brethren in Christ Social Service, giving four principles for praising children: be immediate, so children understand what good behaviour is and it is reinforced; focus on the process — effort rather than results — so children are motivated to learn new things; use detailed description, so children understand what they have done; and be sincere, so children feel their parents' affirmation and the parent-child relationship is strengthened.
