Criteria & Interview
Admission Criteria
Our kindergarten admits children in accordance with our school-based admission mechanism. The main admission criteria are:
- Interview performance – the child’s performance in age-appropriate play-based activities and conversation.
- Sibling priority – applicants whose older sibling(s) currently attend or have graduated from our kindergarten will be given due priority consideration.
- Home–school cooperation – parents’ understanding of and support for our school mission, educational philosophy and home–school partnership.
- Whole-day place priority
- In accordance with the Education Bureau’s K1 admission arrangements, priority for whole-day places is given to families that require whole-day services, such as those with working parents, single-parent families, or families with genuine childcare needs.
- If places are limited, applicants who require whole-day services will be given priority over those applying for half-day places.
Due to limited places, meeting the above priority conditions does not guarantee admission.
Mode of Interview
- All children who apply for Nursery (K1) will be invited for interview.
- Interviews are conducted through age-appropriate play-based activities and short conversation, in individual and small-group format.
- One parent is required to accompany the child during the interview.
- Each interview session lasts about 45 minutes.
Interpretation support can be arranged, where necessary, during admission interviews. Families are also welcome to be accompanied by a relative or friend who can communicate in English or Chinese. (See also Support for non-Chinese speaking (NCS) families.)
